Going green...

March 2009. Best Western West Retford Hotel
receives the Green Tourism Bronze award for
its committment to reducing it's carbon footprint. General Manager Andrew Lavin said "to acieve this award we had to prove to the inspectors that we were following all good practices and had energy efficiency policies in place. We are hoping to further improve our grading in the near future.
Extended gardens...
In the new year the hotel purchased a further 2.5 acres of land from the council. Landscaping this land will mean our gardens will be even more interesting. Plans are in place for pathways, exotic shrubs and flowers.
New Cottage Suite
24th September 2008. A newly re-furbished suite has recently been completed and features a fantastic sleigh bed and matching furniture.
On the ground floor of our cottage accommodation this room overlooks the beautiful gardens. A brand new 37" LCD television has also been installed.

Local Authority Award
17th September 2008. The West Retford Hotel has been awarded 1st place in the prestigious local authority awards, "Retford In Bloom".
Coming 1st place in the "Large Commercial Property" category, general manager Andrew Lavin said "this award recognises all the hard work and effort that has gone into the re-development of the gardens. We are very proud to win this award." The West Retford Hotel is now elegible for regional awards next year.
Bridal Suite Complete
Wedding couples will be able to enjoy their special day in a beaturiful new suite. No expense has been spared restoring this beautiful suite which overlooks the landscaped gardens. The new suite comprises of a seperate entrance, lounge area, bedroom and en-suite. The new en-suite includes a double bath with mood lighting, large double shower and twin sinks. Two 32" plasma televisions with built-in Freeview will enhance guests stay. This suite also has a mini-bar. Click on the photograph's below.

New Reception Area
A brand new reception area will modernise the entrance to the West Retford Hotel. Work begins 21 January 2008 and will take three days to complete. A larger reception area will enable guests to check-in and out quicker than before.
Lock Tight
November 2007. Every bedroom received key card type door locks. General Manager Andrew Lavin said "we try to be pro-active when it comes to the security of our guests and their belongings and this is just another way to show that we take this matter very seriously." Power Management was also fitted at the same time meaning that guests have to put their key card into a slot to enable the electricity in the room. This keeps costs down and is also good for the environment.
Bedroom Refurbishment
January starts the second phase of the bedroom refurbishment programme at the west Retford Hotel. Plans for stylish new bedrooms have been given the go-ahead which incorporate brand-new en-suites. General Manager Andrew Lavin said "we are very excited about the new bedrooms, we will be able to offer stylish yet traditional rooms to our guests. Future wedding couples will also benefit with a total re-furbishment of our Georgian Honeymoon Suite." Work commences at the beginning of February 2008.
Security Upgrade
December 2007. Security barriers were installed to help protect customer vehicles.
The entry barrier raises automatically when a vehicle is detected and a code is required to exit.
Assistant Manager Pam Stevens said "our guests security is paramount to us and we are always looking to be pro-active when it comes to security" 24 hours CCTV cameras were also upgraded.
Bassettlaw Breastcare Appeal

In November 2007 several staff walked the Worksop half-marathon to raise money for the Bassetlaw Breastcare Appeal. Sally Richardson accepts the cheque for £500.00 from General Manager Andrew Lavin. Some of the staff who completed the walk were Leanne Amendola, Laura Britten, Elaine Williams.
Beautiful Ballroom
Our Shelley Ballroom had a massive re-furbishment in December 2006. The room was extended to add extra capacity. Completley re-decorated with new curtains, carpets and it's own new bar. This gorgeous suite makes the ideal location for a civil ceromony and reception. Brand-new air-conditioning also makes it a fantastic conference room.
Chatsworth Bar

In October 2006 a brand new bar area is fitted in the Chatworth Bar which overlooks the garden area. Complete with new carpet and curtains.
Guests can enjoy a freshly ground coffee whilst relaxing with a paper or watching the television.
If the weather is suitable there is direct access to the patio and gardens.
